MACTE/COMTEC/MAECTE FAll 2020 CONFERENCE

MACTE, MAECTE, and COMTEC will jointly host a virtual fall conference the mornings of Friday, November 20, 2020 and Saturday, November 21, 2020. The theme will be "Address Disruption Now: Protest, Policies, Practices, and Pandemic in Education." 

In recognition of the times in which we work, this conference is free. We hope you invite your partners and colleagues to attend. Registration is required.

Keynote: 
This presentation, by Brian Fleming, explores the future of learning with a focus on futures trends and signals in higher education and beyond and on competencies of future ready leaders. Brian is the Vice President, Strategy and Innovation at the Sandbox ColLABorative, an internal consultancy and concept development group within Southern New Hampshire University's Innovation Center. The SNHU Innovation Center's mission is to help the University identify, understand, and solve the most difficult problems our current and future learners face.
Brian oversees innovation and design research projects for key strategic initiatives, and focuses on guiding projects and initiatives through the lens of digital learning and business model transformation. Brian has broad experience in academic innovation, market strategy, and portfolio management, and has worked on several key projects for executive leadership to help build partnerships, support and guide innovation teams, and chart a course for the University to better impact the lives our learners.

​Keynote:
Dr. Beverly Daniel Tatum, president emerita of Spelman College, is a clinical psychologist widely known for both her expertise on race relations and as a thought leader in higher education.  Her thirteen years as the president of Spelman College (2002-2015) were marked by innovation and growth and her visionary leadership was recognized in 2013 with the Carnegie Academic Leadership Award.  The author of several books including the best-selling “Why Are All the Black Kids Sitting Together in the Cafeteria?” and Other Conversations About Race (now in a new 2017 20th anniversary edition) and Can We Talk About Race? and Other Conversations in an Era of School Resegregation (2007), Tatum is a sought-after speaker on the topics of racial identity development, race and education, strategies for creating inclusive campus environments, and higher education leadership.  In 2005 Dr. Tatum was awarded the prestigious Brock International Prize in Education for her innovative leadership in the field.   A Fellow of the American Psychological Association, she was the 2014 recipient of the APA Award for Outstanding Lifetime Contributions to Psychology.  ​
